Tabs in Lists - can I get rid of them???

Hi! I am constantly removing the new tab stops in my numbered and bulleted
lists. Is there any way I can keep them from showing up at all???

I have tried creating a style based on this but it doesn't work...

Thanks,

Denise

It sounds like you have met the infamous "Jason" tab, named after the
horror movie character who refuses to stay dead. It's a bug in Word's
outline numbering. The only way to prevent its appearance is to either
not edit your numbered styles after creating them; or, in the
"customize numbering" dialog, where it says "Follow number with",
select either Space or Nothing (instead of Tab character).

For a more detailed explanation, and instructions for how to properly
use outline numbering (or any numbering), see
