Tabs/Indents not exactly .5"

Greg

Using Word XP, I've noticed as I'm modifying styles that
when I click on the ruler bar to add or move a tab or an
indent, there is no way to place it exactly at .5" or 1".
Instead it puts it at .49" or .99". As a result, I have to
use the menus or other methods handle the task. Anyone
know why this happens and/or how to resolve it?
Thanks!

Greg,

This is usually caused by haveing "snap to grig" selected
in the View>Toolbars>Drawing>Draw>Grid Drawing Gring
dialog box.

This causes objects (including tabs) to snap to the
closest grid line. You can turn it off by unchecking the
setting or diable temporarily by holding down the ALT key
when you position your tabs.

You are awesome! That problem has bothered me for awhile
now. If deselect that feature and then click the Default
button, will this save the setting to my Normal.dot?

Greg,

Actually I am tired, out of shape and getting old. Anyway
to your question ...

It will. Not sure of your version of Word, but you never
want Normal Template to change if you don't know about it.
Look at Tools>Options>Save and make sure "Prompt to save
normal template" is checked.
