How can I use a tab if something is already written on the line?

Section Tabs. When something is written on the line the tab key forms a grid. The grid is useful but a lot of times I want to just use the space.

You mean Tab Stops, like in a word processor?
That can't be done, since the Tab key is intended to allow quick table
creation.
What you can do is try to format what you're typing such thatit can fit
inside of a table, add spaces manually, or create a second Note Container
to simulate a tab stop.
