taking powerpoint out of viewer mode

some of the powerpoints i have downloaded were saved in ppt.pps how do i convert this to ppx.? it causing the powerpoints to shown in slideshow view only so I can't take notes in class.

only so I can't take notes in class.

File, Open and browse to the PPS file to open it.
Save as any other format you like (PPT or PPTX)
