Gary, I had run WGSetup.exe on my machine and trying to send assignment info to my mailid. Please note that I also have the collaboration option set to E-mail only. But thing to notice is that access to "New and Changed Assignment..." function in MS Project Pro 2002 is via Collaborate -> Publish menu which in turn leads me to believe that this will not work without first publishing the info to MS Project Server (infact Project prompts this to you that information will first be published to Project Server). And when I do this, I always get error in PJSPOOL.EXE.
I have been able to send email (using Macros) for duration related changes to assigned resource automatically. However these are plain text mails and don't have intelligence to update MS Project which the collaborate feature would have provided.
Appreciate your response, if you have any other insights into this please share

Yes if your users have Outlook. You'll need to run wgsetup.exe on all of th
client machines. This file is included but downplayed in 2002. Explore th
installation documents for proper configuration

Is it possible in Project 2002 Professional to send "New and Change
Assignment" mail to resources without having Project Server installed (i.
using MAPI which is similar to what was available in Project 2000)
