Hi Omar,
Okay, sorry for being soooo long in figuring this out. From what I have
been able to recreate with this additional information from you, I believe I
am able to reproduce exactly what you are seeing.
I assume when you open your Global Master file, you see the external
successor (Task A in your example) for Task 1 in the Global master. (The
external successor appears as a light grey task).
If I just create the links between Task A in the P1 project and Task 1 from
the Global project, I see no baseline information at all in the Global
master file - even when a baseline is saved in the P1 project. Also when I
save a baseline in the Global master, it does not update the baseline for
Task A in the P1 file.
I *think* I understand why. The baseline fields for each task belongs to
the file they appear in -- the baseline data from Task A in P1 is *not*
linked in any way to the baseline data appearing in the global master. The
tasks are linked in the sense that there is a predecessor/successor
relationship but the underlying baseline data is not linked.
So, when viewing the Global master, no change in baseline occurs until I
re-save the baseline in the global master.
Sorry I couldn't give you a "magic fix" as I don't believe there is one. If
you want the baseline in the Global master changed, I believe you will have
to change it manually. You can create an OLE link by copying the baseline
start from Task A in P1 and pasting with a paste link to the baseline start
field for the same task in the Global master, but I am afraid this will
create more work, and more headaches for you in the long run. OLE links
(created through paste link) are notoriously fragile.
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
