Outlook 2003

The Task icon button shows a clipboard with a red check. Once in Tasks the
first column is "icon" where the label shows an icon of a blank page. The
icon itself at the beginning of each task is the Task icon - clipboard with
red check. What is the purpose of this "icon" column if all the icons are
the same. I have not found any way to change that initial icon from the
clipboard/red check to anything else. Thanks!

All items in Outlook have icons that represents what those items are.
All of the normal views in Outlook contain the icon field. Some folder
(Deleted Items, for example) can contain items of different types. Th
icon field is so you know at a glance what type of item you're seeing.
There are multiple task entry types that can appear in the Tasks folder
each with its own icon. Tasks you create for yourself, tasks you'v
accepted, tasks you've declined, and tasks you've delegated to someon
else all have a unique icon. Since they'll all be in your Tasks folder
the icon field can help you distinguish between them. Se

As answered yesterday -
That is just the normal task icon - it means it’s a task, not an assigned
task.
See http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/icons_tasks.htm for the various icons
used in the task folder.
