Task is different in list versus its own window

J

Jim

I recently changed the details of a task (such as subject and importance) on
my Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 6.0. I synchronized the changes to
Exchange, and then synchronized Outlook 2003 on my notebook to Exchange.

Now, in Outlook it shows the correct details (subject and priority) in the
task list; however, when I open the task it shows the old details. Why is
this and can it be corrected?

Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Such an issue may be caused that the edited task was not synchronized into the Exchange account properly. Follow the steps below to
test the issue.

#1 Exit Outlook. click Start > Run > type outlook /cleanviews, click OK. Does the Taks show properly?

#2 If there is OWA interface with your exchange email account, login OWA and check if the Task is correct.

#3 Change the details of another task on the Pocket PC and then synchronize the changes again. Check the other task in Outlook 2003
again. Does the same issue occur with the other Task?

#4 Change the details of a task in Outlook 2003 itself and save it. Does it show correctly in the task list and in the opening task
window?

In addition, collect following information for me. My email address is [email protected].

1. Take a screen shot of the task list which shows the correct details.
2. Take a screen shot of the opening task window which shows the old details.
3. Open the specific task > click File > Save As > save it as Task.msg file and send the file to me.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin

Yes, the task now shows properly, though it does now mention, "You made
changes to another copy of this item. This is the most recent version.
Click here to see other versions."

However, it appears that this deleted a custom view I had created. Is there
any way to get this back?

#2 If there is OWA interface with your exchange email account, login OWA and check if the Task is correct.

Done, looks fine there.
#3 Change the details of another task on the Pocket PC and then synchronize the changes again. Check the other task in Outlook 2003

No, this time there was no issue.
#4 Change the details of a task in Outlook 2003 itself and save it. Does it show correctly in the task list and in the opening task

Yes.

Since the /cleanviews seems to have resolved this, do you still want me to
do this? I could open the task and open the older version and send that to
you (along with the other things you'd requested), if you'd like.
If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the detail information.

Glad to hear that the issue doesn't recur with other tasks you edited in Pocket PC. And the view of that specific task has been resolved
by the command line 'outlook /cleanviews'.

At this point, I don't need the information (screen shot of the task window, and etc.)

According to current situation, it seems that the issue is related to the custom view you created. After cleaning the custom view, the
Task works fine. Please follow the steps below to customize your view again and test teh issue again.

1. Restart Outlook 2003.
2. In the Tasks fodler, click the View menu > Current View > Customize Current View.
3. Customize your view again. Click OK.

4. Edit another Task in the Pocket PC and sync it. Check the other Task in your custom view. Does the original issue recur?

Hope it works fine with your custom view.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin
