Task only relevant when certain predecessors complete

We have a circumstance where a certain activity "send the bill" is only
applicable once another activity "perform the service" is complete. Is there
a way to that our finance person only sees the "send the bill" task once its
predecessor is completed?

Because each person sees only their own tasks I'm trying to mitigate a
situation where we bill before work is completed. Any suggestions on how to
handle this workflow issue are most welcome.

This is not possible in any version of Project Server. Instead, you need to
establish a process by which the person assigned to a task confirms the
predecessor task before beginning work on his/her own task. In Project
Server 2007, the assign resource can see the predecessor task and to whom it
is assigned by navigating to the My Tasks page, clicking the name of the
task, and looking for the information on the Assignment Details page. Hope
this helps.

Dale,

This is most helpful and informative. As a work around I'm thinking that it
might be useful if we could develop a custom view showing "my tasks with
predecessors completed" to narrow this down. Do you know if this is
technically possible, given the right developer resources?

I suppose this might be possible through custom software development. You
might want to post this question in the microsoft.public.project.developer
newsgroup to get guidance on how to do this. Hope this helps.
