Task pane - Slide layout

When using Powerpoint 2003, the "Slide Layout" tab of the task pane stops displaying layouts after a while.
Any suggestions?

Does anything else happen? Such as slow response? Or
does the Slide Layout tab just do nothing when you click
on it?

No- no other probs. Powerpoint runs absolutely fine.
