Task priorities under 500 - not organizing correctly?

Joyce D

Anyone have experience with assigning task priorities under 500 and them not
organizing correctly?

I have not experienced this personally - so I have no more details than the
question. I have have heard this from two separate sources and I wanted to
get more info before I starting potentially using this field incorrectly.

Thanks!

Hi Joyce,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Priorities, both project and task, are only used when levelling, and then
you have to select Priority,Standard in the levelling dialog.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Not sure what you mean by "organizing". In what context? This field is
often misinterpreted by inexperienced users who think it somehow
prioritizes across the project. As Mike has said, the only thing this
does, at any priority level, is influence Resource Leveling, and it
doesn't influence it very much unless you choose "Priority, Standard"
leveling method.

Hope this helps in your world.
