Task says 100% complete when % complete field doesn't

Hello
I have a task that was initially assigned to one resource who entered some
time to the task. But a change in the resource has been made and I need to
replace him with a different resource. I went into the plan, selected the
tasks, clicked the Assign Resources icon, selected the resource to change and
clicked Replace. Upon doing so, I got a warning message stating that the
selected task is 100% complete and asking if I want to assign the previously
entered work to the new resource. However, in looking at the % complete
field, it only shows 34% complete.

I inherited the plan from one of our PM's who is no longer here, but I'm
assuming that the task was 100% complete at one time and then more work was
assigned and so project thinks that it is still complete. Does anyone know
if this is true and if so, how to change this?

Thanks!

The warning message is referring to the % Work Complete value, which sounds
like it is 100% complete. If the % Complete value, which represents the
percentage of Duration complete, is less than 100%, this means that you have
a Fixed Duration task. Can you confirm whether this task is Fixed Duration
or not? Let us know.

Hi Dale
Thanks for the response. In looking at the % Complete field, it shows 31%
and the %Work Complete shows 40%. The task was also setup as Fixed Work
instead of Fixed Duration.

Thanks!

Mighty stange behavior, indeed! I'm fresh out of ideas. I can only believe
the warning message is an error, but I can't think why the software would
show you the message under these circumstances. I'll gladly defer to anyone
else who might have an idea. Sorry.

Wow... I didn't think I could stump you. ;) You always seem to have good
advice.

It's not too big of a deal as I can work around it. I was more curious as
to why. Thanks for the time!

The joy of being an MVP is that I sometimes look like a genius, and then in
the next moment I look like a complete doofus. You are more than welcome
for the help, my friend. Sorry I could not be of more help on this issue.
