Task show up on Current Task view without allocating resource time

I have a user with the following scenario. I know for the tool to work as it
is designed, you've got to allocate resources to a task but I'm wondering if
anyone has found, or can think of, a way to accomodate this?

"I have 2 types of tasks in my project plan - 2007 AutoP Series II Support
* Fixed Units with a percentage and work associated to create the duration
* Fixed Duration with 0% and no work just duration.
Type 1 are showing up in the resources 'Current Task' view with no problem,
but the Type 2 tasks are not. How do I get them to show in the 'Current
Task' view without adding a % or hours to them? These are tasks that are
set up just as place holders for time spent that I don't want them to have
time allocated to the resource so that it takes away from their
availability....anyone have any ideas?"

You could assign their units at 0.1%. That would have a negligible effect on
their allocation. However, as soon as they book work, the task will probably
be marked complete and fall off "Current Tasks," so they'll have to show all
tasks. Another possible drawback to this we've seen (where we've used low
assignment units) is that as team members book time, sometimes the duration
extends out to several years. Since it's a fixed duration task it shouldn't
happen, but...
