TCP/IP errors when trying to display web page?

S

Steve Grosz

How can I find out what is causing random messages I'm
getting when trying to view web pages I'm hosting. Once
in a while I will get a 'page can't be displayed' error,
and it points to a TCP/IP error.

What is causing this error? And what can be done to
resolve this problem?

Thanks,
Steve

Yea, I believe its 404, I didn't pay enough attention
last time it happened. Just noticed it said that it was
TCP errors instead of my usual DNS problems (which I
think have been resolved!!).

Unless it's a constant problem I would ignore it.
Your TCP/IP protocol is obviously OK or you wouldn't be able to read or post here either.

Well, I check the server logs each day, and there is a
high percentage that are 404, as opposed to those that
are not. About 20% in some cases.

Plus, I'm sending this to the newsgroup from another
location, not at that office.

This sounds more like a server issue. I recommend posting in an appropriate
server newsgroup.

Are the 404's associated with malformed url requests??
People are terrible about pasting incorrect links in email and such.

also, it may just simply be time to reboot the server.
