Team assignments makes capacity in the Reporting database 0

Dave

Hello All,

I seem to be having a problem with the capacity value in the reporting
database. I am taking the capacity value from MSP_EpmResourceByDay. Well my
problem was that the values are not getting populated.

Before I go into the details of what is happening let me give you a bit of
background information. We are trying to create a SQL report based on the
capacity of a user . The problem was that the capacities of all the
resources was not getting populated into the ResourceByDay table. After
breaking our head for 2 days we found that if the Team Assignment Pool under
the Team Details section in the Manage User page, check box was ticked the
resource capacity showed up as 0, in the reporting database and in the
Resource Availability page. We are not sure if this is a bug or as Microsoft
would say a "by design" feature.

Now we seem to have reached another problem. Some of our people use the Team
assignment feature, so I can not just remove everyone from their teams. Does
anyone know of a workaround for this?

Thanks in advance
Dave

Dave,

I believe you have selected the Team Assignment Pool for named resources,
when this should be selected for only the Team Resource.

ie. I have a team called Ops Team, which has two resources in it.

I create 3 resources in total.

1 called Ops Team (this has the Team Assignment Pool checked) and the Ops
Team name selected.

2 named resources (Res1, Res2), which only have the Ops Team name selected
(NOT the Team Assignment Pool).

It is by design that capacity/availability is not stored for Teams.

If you uncheck the TAP check box for named resources and republish your
projects, this should resolve your issue.
