Team Foundation problem with dual server installation

Hi all,
I have a Team Foundation server installed with data tier on a W2k3 server
with MSSQL 2005 and aplication tier on a virtual (VMWare) server.
It seems that aplication tier cannot authenticate on SQL server (both in the
same domain).
When trying to create a team project it hangs and writes to the Application
log an error "Timeout expired".
Anyone has experience with this kind of problem?
