Team Foundation Server /Project Integration Issues - Hey Dale/Gary

Doug

Hopefully Dale or Gary can answer this.

I am evaluating Visrual Studio Team Services/Team Foundation Server from a
Project Management stand point, and I have several questions.

1. It looks like tasks are imported to a blank .mpp file each time! This
prevents setting a base line.

2. It looks like resources are "local" to each project.... how do we manage
resource contention?

3. If we do indeed import tasks "work items" to a blank project each time,
how do we identify slipping tasks?

So far I am NOT impressed with the "project Management" perspective of
VSTS/TFS... in fact I am quite "underwhelmed".

Am I missing something?

I saw a demo of Team services at Tech Ed and my impression was that it
provided Task management, not project scheduling capabilities. Integration
with Project Server wasn't available at all at the demo (last Sept).

Rod and others:

The more I read and experiment with VSTS/TSF the more I realize how poorly
these products are integrated. For example, TSF does not store task
dependencies (sucessors or predecessors).

Also, data is not LINKED to Project Server, rather COPIED to a .MPP file
WHEN YOU REQUEST it to be COPIED. And yes, I mean COPIED and not LINKED.
