Template does not appear after selection in Word Letter Wizard

Whenm I am in Outlook 2003 and I have selected a Contact, I can select
Actions/New Letter to Contact and be taken to the Word 2003 Letter Wizard.
Once there I can choose a page design (template) on the Letter Format tab and
enter other data on the Recipient Info, Other Elements and Sender Info tabs
if need be.

Once I have done this, whatever template I have chosen should appear in the
Word document and it should contain all the data from the Outlook Contact
record plus any other info I have added via the Letter Wizard.

It does not!

No template will appear at all, but all the data will be merged to a blank
page.

I am well and truly stuck - HELP!
