Template for Home Page

Peter

I am a novice using FP2002. I have developed a personal page design and now
wish to use this as the home page of a Web Site which I am trying to build.
I cannot see how to do this. I can initiate a blank site, but I am unable
to substitute my Page template for the new page. I will also use it for
some child pages.

Related to this, the template's file name is PetersTemplate.tem which would
presumably become PetersTemplate.htm when used in a site. If this is to be
the home page, should the name be changed to index.htm?

If I use the template for subsequent child pages, does FP2002 automatically
rename them so that there are no duplicate index.htm files?

Thanks for all your answers.

I also use Front Page 2002 and here is what I do.

1. I create a new web in Front Page.
2. I create a "template" page that gives the site its
look.
3. The home page is named "index.htm" (it may be renamed
when you publish your site to confirm with the default
page name in use by your host). If you name it something
other than this, the URL of your site would have to be
www.YourSite.Com/PetersTemplate.htm ... not something you
want.
4. When I want to add a new page to the site, I start
with the template page, change its Page Title property
and File | Save As and give it another name. Your
original template will still be there with its name.

Thanks Rick,

This is not quite my situation. I already have the page saved as a template
and now wish to incorporate this as the Home page of a new Site.

File new page, select your template and Save the file as your home page file name (as required by your host)
