Template Format?

I have created a letterhead template with the company info
in the Header and Footer as needed. This works great.
However, we have a colored bar on the right side of the
page that runs from top to bottom. I want this bar to be
locked in place and appear on each new page created
(2,3,4,etc.) just like the header/footer info. Can this be
done? I cannot seem to lock the bar in place. Word
2002/2003 behaves the same, but I am using 2003. Thanks in
advance!

A header can appear anywhere on the page. From your description, it appears
that you want the bar to appear from page 2 onwards.

Open your template for editing. Set page payout to feature a different first
page header. Insert a temporary page break.
Put your letter head in the first page header, the bar in the next page
header. When you are happy with the results, delete the page break and save
the template. Word will remember to put the bar on subsequent pages.
