Template in Startup folder not acting as before

I've been making changes to code and running the development version from the
Templates folder. When I had the final version, I put it in the Word\Startup
folder, but it isn't working as I remember the previous one did.

- I had to activate the template under Tools>Templates and Addins, even when
I had started Word fresh. I thought this wasn't needed for a template in the
Startup folder. Can it be made automatic ?

- The template has an AutoExec macro, but it failed to execute when I
restarted Word, even after I had activated the template.

So any user who gets my program now has two unfamiliar things to do: activate
the template and run Auto_Exec. I'd like to remove these steps. Can anyone
suggest what I'm missing?

Another problem is occurring with the template in the Startup folder: My
MACROBUTTON fields are having no effect. These fields activate a macro that
runs something in Powerpoint. Is there something about the Word Startup
folder that would disable something going over to Powerpoint?

[Sorry about my duplicated posting before. I thought the first click didn't
work.]

I've gotten this thread confused by first adding another question and then
saying it was all working. I'd like to revive my original questions about the
Startup and the AutoExec. I do still have this problem-- the template is not
automatically active, and the AutoExec doesn't have effect.

I wish OfficeKB would let me revise or delete previous postings!

Hi Christophercbrewster,
I wish OfficeKB would let me revise or delete previous postings!
Maybe if you use a different site to access the newsgroup?
OfficeKB actually "slurps" the Microsoft msnews server - most of
the answers that appear there aren't actually posted through that
interface.

If you like a web interface, you can try
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?

I tried your MSDN link, but couldn't see how it matches what I see on
OfficeKB. It doesn't seem to be broken into the same categories, once I get
to the Office node.
