Template Issue

When I try to open Word, I get "cannot open
c:/.../startup/bdstart.dot." I keep getting prompted
about having changed the normal template and do I want to
save those changes.
In addition, I can't open any saved documents in Word or
Powerpoint. I've tried the troubleshooting templates
solutions on Office help but no luck.
Help!

bdstart.dot is installed by By Design Office, an add-in that provides
templates for Word and PowerPoint. The add-in was designed for an earlier
version of Word and doesn't work properly with more recent versions (and
causes the types of problems you describe), so you would be best advised to
remove bdstart.dot from your Startup folder.
