template problem?

I have 10 users with identical new PCs and Office 2007. One user made a
rather simple template for office memos. She shared it with two other users.
However, when either of thme try to use it, after a few minutes working on
such docs, The hour glass comes on, the CPU usage goes to 100% and the user
has to try to close Word to get back control.

I thought the interval might be related to the auto recovery backup but it
happens even when that is turned off.

Any ideas?
