Template problems

When I open a template by using the File, Open method the
template opens as if it is corrupt. I then close the
template without saving. I then open the same template by
using the File, most recently used list and the template
open correctly? How can this be, and how do I fix it so
that when I open the template by the File Open method it
opens correctly? By the way this problem started after I
scanned a document using Omniscan.

When you choose File - Open, make sure that "Files of type:" is NOT set to
"Recover text from any file".

Herb Tyson gave you the solution to the problem you asked about. A second
problem, though, is that normal use of templates does _not_ involve opening
them using File > Open. Normal use is to use File > New to create a new
document based on the template.
