I have installed a new workgroup printer on our network
which has different tray configuration to our outgoing
printer. This means that all of our workgroup Word
templates must be updated to reflect the new tray numbers
for documents that print to multiple trays. There are 2
main printers used on our network. The problem is, I
updated the templates and tested them on the new printer
OK.(First page to tray 2, other pages to tray 3) When I
went out to the other printer and checked the page setup,
(remembering that these are workgroup templates stored on
a share on the network.) it was set to print from auto
select for all pages. (Both printers have the same tray
configuration.) I then updated the same template on a
machine connected to the second printer, it worked fine.
When I opened the template on a PC that was connected to
the new printer, it had reverted to auto select for all
pages. Are the templates printer specific? Is there a way
to set the templates to have the same page setup no matter
where they are printed?
