Templates that I don't need ?

I've got Word 2002.
When I want to start a new document based on one of my
templates I see a lot of groups of templates (reports,
publications, notes, web-pages and others).

In Tools, Alternatives I have the right directory names
for the User templates and workgroup templates that I use
but the named groups (reports a.s.o.) also is shown. I
don't want these groups to be shown when I choose File,
New.

How can I make these groups disappear ?

Hi Bjornar,

You have to "uninstall" those templates. First shut down Word (and Outlook
if you use Word as your email editor). Go to the Windows Control Panel,
start Add/Remove Programs, click Microsoft Office, and click the Change
button. Leave the 'Add or Remove Features' item selected and click Next. If
the next dialog has a check box for 'advanced configuration', check it. You
should get a tree of icons. Expand the Word icon and click the Additional
Templates item. Select 'Not available' so a red X appears on the icon. Click
the Update button. When it completes, restart Word.

Thanks for answer !
This was OK on one computer.
I have 60 computers that also need these templates gone.
Is it some registry setting that can be canged to
accomplish the same result ?

No, there's nothing so simple.

Although I haven't done it, I understand that you can create a Windows
Installer "transform" that suppresses the Additional Templates component,
apply that transform to an administrative installer for Office, and use
something like SMS to push that installer from the server to all desktops.
This requires a fair amount of infrastructure (SMS agent on all desktops,
etc.) and some knowledge about Windows Installer (which can be acquired at
msdn.microsoft.com).

It might be easier to show four or five people how to use Add/Remove
Programs and send them around to all 60 computers.
