In word 2000 when you clicked on FILE- NEW a list of templates would come
up. How does one access the templates in Word 2003 to select the
appropriate template to use.

Select Tools | Customize...
Activate the Commands tab (if necessary)
Select "All Commands" in the list of Categories on the left hand side.
Select FileNewDialog in the list of Commands on the right hand side.
Drag this to a convenient locaiton on your toolbar.
Right-click the new toolbar button, and modify it as desired - you can
change its caption, style, etc.
Close the Customize dialog when you're done.

In 2003 you can still go to File, New, but what will happen is that a
task pane will launch on the right hand side of your screen. One of
the options there will be Templates On My Computer. If you choose
that, you will see the same thing you did when clicking File, New in
Word 2000.

Art:
Open Word and Click View. Put a checkmark beside Task Pane and when the task
pane appears there should be a section on templates. Click Templates on My
Computer. If such an option is not there, there will be something like
Create a new document and then various templates will come up. Good Luck.
