All files in the FrontPageTempDir come from opening any file in FP for editing

When you access your site directly with FP or via IE - File Menu | Edit With FP, are you prompted to
login?

If you are not prompted, then anyone can edit your site in FP, you need to contact your web host
immediately to correct the permissions.

Stefan, I have seen this several times on our site recently from the same
visitor, is there any potential problem or anything I should do to prevent a
problem? Can they edit my site? I am using FP and my server does not have
security for FP, is there something in FP to use to keep security high? Do I
need to worry?

I received the following reply from my server; That is actually a problem
with the code on your site. You can see the C://Documents....... is trying
to pull something from your local computer. That is the only problem and
must be corrected on your page. From the server side you are secure -
infact, even with this error message you are secure, but I would definitely
look at the code for that page and correct the "call to" of your local
machine.
NOW what do I do? I am unsure what is happening and cannot figure out what
file pvw1.htm is?

It means you need to import your pages (and images) into your web first
before linking to them so they reference the page on your web site and not
on your PC.

David, help me to see if I understand. When I create a new page I should
publish it to the website and do all my links on the web, right? My problem
is that I am traveling in a truck and using a internet card that does not
always have good continuous connection. Now what do I do about all the pages
that are already up on the site with links created on my computer? Is there
any way around this problem or is it really a problem that I should worry
about?

On your local PC create a web site (File, New, Empty Web). Then import all
of your files into that site (File, Import). Then updated your pages, links
etc. And then publish from that local web to your live web. Another way
would be to open your live web in FrontPage (File, Open Site,
http://www.yourdomain.com) and the choose File, Publish Site and publish it
to a local folder on your Hard Drive like C:\MyWeb Then Open that location
(File, Open Site, C:\MyWeb) in FrontPage, work on it and then publish it
back to your live site. This way you can work locally without being
connected to the Internet and only need to connect when you're publishing.
