Text Box Formatting - Rotate

G

Grika

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I am trying to rotate text upside down. I realize that there are a number of postings about this here and throughout the web stating it's impossibility and suggesting the use of Paste Special to past copied text as a graphic. While this works, the text is obviously uneditable.

My big issue is that the Format Text Box window has a Rotate section under the Size tab with a Rotation amount of 0°. Yet this field is unselectable!

How do I utilize this setting?

It is "unselectable" because, as you've found, Text Boxes cannot be rotated
in Word. The Rotation field is only there because *other* shapes can be
rotated. It isn't uncommon for a single dialog to be used for elements where
some settings apply & some don't... If you go to the 'Colors & Lines' page
while a shape other than a line or arrow is selected you'll find that the
features in the 'Arrows' section are still displayed but are unusable as
well. The actual "bug" is that the Rotation field should be dimmed/disabled
when a Text Box is selected. The fact that it isn't disabled is quite
understandably misleading, but that's how it is. You might consider dropping
a line to Microsoft by way of Help> Send Feedback.

As an alternative, have you considered using a WordArt object?
