Text box in Embedded chart is cut off

Hi. I am having a problem with an embedded chart that appears differently in
word versus how it appeared originally in Excel. Specifically, the top of
the chart (in excel) has a text box that divides the chart (it is a vertical
bar graph) into subcategories (labels at the bottom are used to specify what
each bar signifies; but these are taken from the associated cell range).

Originally, the chart was labeled by a single text box, separated by spaces:
Lifetime Use 30-Day Use Heavy Use Antisocial Behavior

When this chart is linked in word, the text displays like this (tho'
everything else seems fine):
Lifetime Use 30-Day Use Heavy Use Antisoci

I tried breaking it up into two separate text boxes, does not seem to change
where it cuts off:
[Lifetime Use 30-Day Use ] [Heavy Use Antisoci**
********] (*=cut off text).

Also, if I change the spacing, the text is cut off at the same exact
physical space on the chart:
Lifetime Use 30-Day Use Heavy Use Antisocial Beha

Other solutions I have tried are: Making the fill of the text box solid
white as well as changing it to none;
Making sure there are no invisible text boxes hiding there (can't seem to
find any), breaking and relinking the chart, adding spaces at the end of the
text (i.e. '...Behavior '), moving the embedded chart to a new
position to see if I could locate any hidden objects that might be blocking
it or floating in front...

I am running XL2002 and Word2002, both SP3.

Thank you for any help.

Taylor

I am not sure if this is an excel issue or a word issue, I have crossposted
to both microsoft.public.word.drawing.graphics and
microsoft.public.excel.charting; Hopefully this is appropriate given the
situation and does not break any cardinal rules (let me know).

It's just the textbox that cuts off? The chart elements beneath appear
as expected?

Could you replace the textboxes with data labels? Make a helper series
with X,Y values wherever you need a label, convert the series to a
Scatter type if necessary for precise location, and add labels to this
series using a utility like Rob Bovey's Chart Labeler (free from
http://appspro.com) or John Walkenbach's Chart Tools (also free, from
http://j-walk.com).

It seems to be just the textbox that cuts off, everything else is fine.

Interestingly, <if and only if I pad the text box with extra spaces>, it
prints just fine. It would be ideal if I could figure out what is wrong, but
I suppose that if the final end product looks okay, I can't complain.

Out of curiosity, I will definitely give those chart labelers a try, thanks
for the heads up!

Thanks for your help and suggestions-

Taylor.
