I have FrontPage 2002 and have created multipled text
boxes with hotlinks as well as several WordArt items.
Q1: Why do the text boxes with hotlinks work in IE, but not in Netscape?
WordArt and drawing objects like your text boxes all use a Microsoft
techology called Vector Markup Langauge (VML). Unfortuantely, Internet
Explorer is the only browser capable or displaying VML.
Q2: Why do the WordArt words show up in IE, but do not
even show up on the screen in Nestcape?
Same drill, exactly.
In some cases, the following procedure *can* make WordArt and Drawing
objects show up in Netscape:
1. Choose Page Options from the Tools menu.
2. Click the Compatibility tab (or, in FP2003, the Authoring tab).
3. Select the checkbox titled Downlevel Image File.
This has the effect of creating (1) a GIF file that displays the WordArt of
Drawing object and (2) additional HTML that makes Netscape display the GIF
file rather than the VML picture. However, this still may produce results
that are different in Netscape and IE.
In practice, most Web designers avoid WordArt and Drawing objects of all
kinds.
