First confirm that both Office & OS X are fully updated. Then check in Word>
Preferences> Print to make sure that the boxes are checked for both "Drawing
objects" & "Print background colors & images".
Equally important: You should also have a look at the printer mfr's web site
to see if you have the most current driver for your printer model.
Once that is all taken care of all should be well. If you still have a
problem you'll need to be far more explicit about the issue... We need a
Step-by-step detailed description of exactly what you are doing as well as
what you are doing it with. "...trying to print text that is in a text box"
is far too vague. Also indicate what the results are if you click the
Preview button in the Print dialog to preview the document in Apple's
Preview.app as well as whether the text displays if you create a PDF.
