Text Boxes etc

When inserting a Text Box, AutoShape, or even just a straight line, a large
square opens with the words "Create Your Drawing Here". Although not life
threatening, I find this quite useless and irritating. It has to be deleted
every time, and I have no idea what it is supposed to do. Does anyone know
how to stop it?

TIA

Hi Ed,

It's the MS Office drawing canvas. In Word you can
change the default setting to have it not appear in
Tools=>Options=>General and still have it available
through Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing.

The drawing canvas lets you place multiple objects
together so that they can be worked on/moved, etc as
a set/single object.

Thanks, Bob.

That explains everything. Useful to know. I'm not the only one who hates it,
not knowing!!

Best wishes,

Ed
