Text Data Type Sorting Order

Hi All,

Thanks in advance!

I have a set of customer code in Office 97 which sorted as below:

CustomerCode
===========
SG-A
SG-B
SG-C
SGA-A
SGB-A
SGC-A

But in Office XP, the sorting order is different, it looks like:

CustomerCode
===========
SG-A
SGA-A
SG-B
SGB-A
SG-C
SGC-A

Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue?

Yes, Microsoft broke the sorting order when they released JET 4 (Access 2000
and later.)

They acknowledge the problem here:

I don't think you can expect them to change their minds, because their
larger database product does the same thing.
