Text fields in the cube?

Is there a way to get MS Project Text fields (Text1, Text2, etc.) to show up
in the OLAP cube?

We are on 2007 server current through April CU.

Jen:

No, you must create Enterprise Custom Fields in order to include them in the
cube configuration.

Gary,

Do they show immediately in the custom field cube choices or do you need to
wait until the next cube build to see them in the lists to add to the cube?

- Show quoted text -

If a custom field is txt type, it will be available to be picked in
the cube configuration.

Tao:

First you create the field with a value list
Next you configure the cube to include that field
Then you rebuild the cube and then they show up.

Gary,
So a text field must have an associated lookup table in order to be included
in a cube build?

Mike,

if you like to have a text field as your dimension the answer is yes. Only
a "Flag" custom field or a "Lookup table" custom field ( not multiselect)
can become a dimension in a cube.

If you however have a custom field like cost you can include these custom
fields as values.

Hope that helps

Marc,

Great information to know about which fields can be dimensions. The cost
field is exactly what I need rather than a text field. Thank you.
