Text import/link wizard not running

I have imported/linked to text files (delimited or fixed) hundreds of times
with Access 97. However, in Access 2000, the wizard fails to run after
selecting the text file to in the browser window and dumps me back to the
database viewer. I can go over to 97 and the wizard works fine with the
same text files, so why is Access 2000 failing to work?
