When creating a new presentation , I cannot see the text in the outline tab. Presentations created on a PC have the text view.

The lack of detailed description in your message makes it impossible to
offer much in reply. If you mean that the pane isn't displayed make sure
you're in Normal View - If necessary go to View> Normal or click the Normal
View button in the Status Bar.

Other than that all I can say is that nothing appears in the outline pane
until you type content - the placeholder text doesn't display. Also, only
the text entered in the built-in placeholders [Title, SubTitle, Bulleted
List] displays in the outline pane. Text typed into drawn shapes does not
display in the pane.

Finally, make sure you have Office fully updated (12.1.5).

If none of this addresses your issue please give a better indication of what
the issue is.

it seems to have something to do with the slide layout. I am not a regular user of PPT; i n the past have mainly used for communication only, simple slides etc. Now my lecturer wants everything in PPT!!!!!!

a further issue is that for Australian users, is there something wrong with the Microsoft server, because every time I tried to update, the server is busy. This has happened for the last 4 months, since I upgraded to Office 2008.
