Text jumps to next page before reaching bottom margin

I am working with a document that I did not create and some but not all pages
"jump" to the top of the next page upon reaching about halfway down the
previous page (similar but different from current question: "text jumps half
way down the next page"). LAYOUT, VERTICAL ALIGNMENT is set to Top and
bottom margin is set to 1 inch.

Hi Jim,

Examine the paragraph formatting of the first paragraph after the page
break. If that paragraph and one or more of the following paragraphs have
the "Keep with next" and "Keep together" boxes checked (on the Page & Line
Breaks tab of the Format > Paragraph dialog), they may form an unbreakable
block that doesn't fit in the bottom half of the preceding page. That
formatting may come from a paragraph style, or it may be directly applied.
The Reveal Formatting pane will show its source.

Tables are a special case. For that, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/ControlPgBrksInTables.htm.
