Text label on universal connector

Dave

I am using a universal connector line to connect two text boxes.

If I double click on the line I can add a label to it. However, I cannot
figure out how to position that lable once it is created.

Visio seems to place the lable where it thinks it should go and I have no
control over changing it.

Is this true or am I missing something?

Is there another connector that will allow me to place the text precisely
where I want it?

Thanks
Dave

In Visio 2003, use the Connector Tool to draw connectors. These connectors
have a built-in control handle to reposition the text. For many other
shapes you can use the Text Block Tool to accomplish the same task.

Thanks Mark

Sorry for my ignorance but I don't quite follow you.

I am using Visio 2003. I can click on the connector tool on the tool bar and
draw a connection between two text boxes. Once I do this, the two end
pointsof my connector turn red where they are glued to the textboxes. I can
then click on the line and type in some text and a label will append to the
line. However, I cannot reposition the label. Or at least I don't know how
to reposition it. I can't seem to drag or move it anywhere. It is where it
is unless I move the textboxes to which the line is connected. But I need
the textboxes to remain static, I only want to position the lable on the
line.

What don't I understand about lables on connectors?

Also, if I create a label with the text block tool, position it on the
connector where I want it and then group the text with the connector, I
loose my connector properties. IOW I have a shape now rather than a
connector and I cannot attach the endpoints to anything.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
