Text message in Acess

Sorry very new, but can I add a text messaging feature to a form as in
dispatching a driver from data entered into access database. Integrating
MapPoint would be nice to.

I think I can learn the rest of the basics from an online class. I'm trying
to decide between buying courier software (to limiting) and starting with a
basic database and adding to it as I learn.

Vic,

Yes, you can certainly send text messages from within your Access
database. The specifics of "how" will depend on who you choose to use
as your SMS carrier, and which of their optional methods you decide on.
I use a system of exporting a .txt file in the required text message
format and then FTP to www.clickatell.com.

Sorry, don't know about MapPoint.

Thanks for the advice on text messaging. I was thinking of text messaging because SMS has a limit of characters I think. A text file is a good idea to send to the driver! I know this a reach but can the driver use a hard return to text back the proof of delivery( like UPS) and the time of delivery into the database

I do know there is an asp for MapPoint because the place I used to work at
added it to there Courier complete software. It uses the pick up and delivery
address you enter when taking an order.

I don't know of any way for a text message to be imported into Access.
It may be possible, just that I haven't had any experience with this.
