If you have continuous forms set for a bound form (ie the
record source is set) and in the header part of the form
you have a combo box.
When there is no data to display (and allow additions is
set to 'No'), then the text disappears from the combo box.
Once you have added a record the text is displayed in the
combo.
I'm using Access 2000 and I have generated a mini database
which shows this. In the header I have a couple of
unbound fields and an add button. In the detail I have
the data fields and a delete button
Note that this doesn't seem to happen with Access 97
