Text Pane

How do I create a text pane in a template? I have a document that I want to
make into a template and I want to be able to type on the document. It
currently has lines (as it was meant to be for handwriting), but I want to
create a place to type on the documents. Any help would be appreciated.

Document as in Microsoft Word? "Text pane"? Word has "Text Box", you'll
find it on the "Drawing" toolbar.

What version of Word are you using and what version of Word will those using
the template be using?
