Text Problems

Stacey

Help! I've tried everything. In Front Page, I put text
hyperlinks over the picture--but when I preview it in the
browser the text doesn't show up, just the picture. Any
advice?

Thank you.

You can't put text over pictures.....unless using layers or <div> (I think). Two
solutions I can think of:

1) Edit the picture in your image editor, type the text on top of the image,
save, then re-import the saved image (if necessary), and do a hotspot hyperlink
on the image with the text.

2) The other alternative is to set the image as the table and/or table cell
background and put the text in the table. Note, images set as background in
tables are not supported in all browsers so this might not be the best solution.

Add the text to the photo in a image/graphic application, then in FP use the Hotspot (imagemap) to
create the hyperlink.

Exactly what do you mean by "text over the picture"?
Above the pic, on the pic itself?
And how are you accomplishing this?
PLease provide the URL.

I'm wondering about this too. According to Front Page, you should be able to
do this:
"Click the graphic to which you want to add text.
On the Pictures toolbar, click Text ."
The text button on my Pictures Toolbar is visible, but "grayed out"
indicating that it is non-functional. I know I can go into the picture editor
& add text, but the fact is that it's quicker to do it in FrontPage (if it's
working right). I had FrontPage 2000 and that function worked fine. Now in
FrontPage 2003 I can't get it to work. Any ideas?

The image needs to be the background for a cell. Then you can place text over the image.

Check your authoring settings for VML graphics, however VML graphics is only support in IE browsers
running under Windows. However, you will get better quality adding the text to the image in a
graphics application plus it will be viewable in all browsers.
