Text size change not maintained after save

I'm a newbie who is editing someone else's presentations using PPT 2003.
Sometimes when I change the text size on a slide title and save the
presentation, when I reopen, the text size is what it was before.
I found a reference to a problem in PPT 2000 but it was supposed to be
fixed. There a temporary fix is to apply a slide layout of Blank to the
slide. If I do that it saves OK. But I have hundreds of slides among a
couple of dozen presentations and don't want to have to do that slide by
slide.
Any help appreciated.
