Text to list with page numbers

I created a TOC and in the footer I included the section (ex. GC-1). But the
GC- doesn't appear in the table of contents. It's driving me crazy! Any
help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

For "chapter numbers" of this type to be included in the page number (and
hence in the TOC), they must be inserted as described at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Numbering/ChapterNumber.htm
