Text to Number

I have a report downloaded into Excel. The invoice numbers show as text
string, left justified, like: '09571663-1. I need to have them show up
in number format. I've tried custom formating without success. Any
suggestion how to accomplish this.

09571663-1 is not a number so you would first have to decide what number
you want to convert it to eg 95716631.
