Text can't be added directly to the edges of a shape - especially on the
diagonal. You'll need to create separate text boxes formatted with No Line &
No Fill rotated to the appropriate angle. Align them with the main shape
then select & group the assemblage.
It might make a difference if you're using 2008 - always useful to mention
version - but I don't think shapes in 2008 work differently in that regard.
