Text wrapping "through" pictures

B

Bud Vitoff

I'm creating a monthly calendar, and I want the day
numbers (1-31), created as independent picture files in
large font, to insert into appropriate cells of the
table. Now I want to be able to overwrite the inserted
picture with text -- in accordance with the word
wrap "through" option. I've had no success. Please give
me the correct procedure.

This may show up as a duplicate reply. The previous one
(similar to this) was posted about 45 minutes ago and
hasn't showed up yet.

This could be a painfully slow process! Please see my
comments on each instruction.

Bud:

Try selecting an image and:
*** I read this as "insert the picture into the cell."
Ordinarily, "selecting" means left-clicking, but in view
of the next instruction, it made no sense to do so at this
point.
1. Right Click picture and select Format Picture
*** Right-clicking gave me a menu that included "edit
picture" but not "format picture". Exiting the menu gave
me the picture with handles, which is what left-clicking
(above) would have done. I clicked the Format Picture
button, which set me up okay for the next instruction.
2. Select the Layout Tab
*** No problem.
3. Select Inline with Text
*** I did this, although according to the images,
the "behind text" choice seemed to be what I actually
wanted.
4. Create a Text Box (Drawing Toolbar)
*** No problem, although as I expected, it obliterated the
picture.
5. Type your text
*** No problem.
6. Right Click Text Box and select Format Text Box
Right-clicking gave me a menu that did not include a
Format Text Box option, and I could not find a button with
that label.

Dead end.

Please help!

Since you haven't told us what version of Word you're using, it's hard to
provide any more detailed information, since Word's tolerance for graphics
in tables varies with version.

Sorry. It's Word 2000.

I don't know how I got the idea that this group was
specifically dedicated to WD2000. :-(
