textbox/graphic default format

Can I set a default formatting for textboxes and graphics? the default
textbox - with fill and with border - is completely against my preferred
formatting. Why doesn't the system leave the setting as last used as with a
lot of other windows functionality? On the graphics I prefer the default to
be not constrained to the original picture size and with top and bottom text
wrap.

All very annoying as I use a lot of graphics and textboxes in my docs and I
seem to spend half the time formatting these elements.

Cheers, Sean

You can set the default for a given document by formatting a text
box/AutoShape as you prefer and then right-clicking and choosing Set
AutoShape Defaults. To do this for all new documents, go through the same
process in Normal.dot (and any document templates you want to change). Note
that this will affect *all* AutoShapes, so if you insert rectangles,
circles, etc., you'll need to give them a line or fill immediately or they
will disappear as soon as you click away from them.
