Textfield in Resource sheet

Hello,

How can I have an inserted text column in my Resource sheet saved (not to
PWA but from session to session).

Your Project Server administrator needs to create a custom enterprise
Resource Sheet view and resource Entry table for this purpose. He/she can
create it by doing the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional, log into Project Server, and open
a project containing resources
2. Click View - Table - More Tables
3. Select the Resource option at the top of the dialog, select the Entry
table, and click Copy
4. Name the new Table something like _Enterprise Entry and add the new
column
5. Click OK and then click Close
6. Click View - More Views
7. Select the Resource Sheet view and then click Copy
8. Name the new View something like _Enterprise Resource Sheet and select
the new _Enterprise Entry table
9. Click OK and then click Apply
10. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Open Enterprise Global
11. Click Tools - Organizer
12. In the lower left corner of the dialog, select the project containing
the new View
13. On the Views tab, select the new View on the left and copy it to the
right (to the Enterprise Global file)
14. Click the Tables tab and then select the Resource option
15. Select the new Table on the left and copy it to the right (to the
Enterprise Global file)
16. Click the Close button
17. Save and close the Enterprise Global file
18. Close the project without saving it
19. Exit and relaunch Microsoft Project Professional

Hope this helps.

But wouldn't it be visible for every user? Could I make a local Resource
sheet view that would be a mix of information from the resource pool and
local text fields that would be saved?

Thanks!

Yes, the steps I specified would be visible to everyone. And yes, you could
create your own personal custom Resource Sheet view, which would only be
visible to you. After you create the View and Table, remember to copy it to
the Global.mpt file using Tools - Organizer. Hope this helps.

Hello,

I have tried making a personal custom resource sheet but the values won't
stick. Maybe the problem is that the super admin has copied the resource
sheet to the global. If I take away the resource sheet from global then it
disappears for everyone. I am lost here.

If your Project Server administrator copies the Resource Sheet view and
resource Entry table to the Enterprise Global, then this is a huge mistake.
The only objects that belong in the Enterprise Global file are enterprise
Views, Tables, Filters, Groups, etc. The Resource Sheet view and the
resource Entry table ARE NOT enterprise objects and should be removed from
the Enterprise Global file immediately. Your Project Server administrator's
decision is the source of your problem, and only he/she can rectify the
problem. Show this to him/her and ask for a resolution. If he/she is
unwilling to do this, then at least he/she should create the new View and
Table according to the directions I sent you. Hope this helps.

Hi again,

My admin tells me that it is impossible to mix 'local' text columns with the
Resource sheet that contains enterprise resources. Do you have an idea of how
to fix this?

Thanks!

Yes, he/she is correct about that. This means that he/she needs to remove
the Resource Sheet view and resource Entry table from the Enterprise Global
file so that you can create your own personal View and Table with the field
you wish to see. Hope this helps.
